Job: Principal Environmental Consultant - Mining & Resources (10471)

With offices around the world, our client is an employee-owned consultancy with a specialist focus on the mining industry. Providing services covering the complete life-cycle of a mining project, they have an immediate need for a Principal Environmental Consultant for their Melbourne office.

In your first month you will be focussing heavily on marketing your services. Whilst the company has existing Principal Environmental people in Australia (about 6), you will be growing a new market easily accessible from the Melbourne office (although in no way constrained to Melbourne) and bouncing off your existing network in the resources industry. As your role progresses and you win more work you will be encouraged to grow your team and build your service offering. Using interstate and international resources you will have the capacity to deliver large-scale work from the outset. 

With a focus on EIS, due diligence and environmental risk assessment, your role will see you providing a high-level consulting service to a range of mining clients. The work will be highly varied in terms of project size, location and environmental services provided. With the support and resources of an large international organisation you will be required to:

• Liaise closely with a variety of mining professionals including client representatives
• Perform due diligence assessments
• Give advice on approvals and seek environmental permits for mining operations
• Highlight potential environmental risks posed by projects and offer innovative solutions
• Coordinate a range of other technical professionals including ecologists, contaminated land professionals, hydrogeologists, geotechs, etc
• Develop business and cross promote internal service offerings

 
To be considered for this role it is essential that you have a solid background in both consulting and the mining industry. In addition you will have:

• A degree qualification in engineering or science
• An ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An ability to work within a team or completely independently
• Business Development skills and experience
• Excellent commercial, financial acumen
